If you’re a high-risk driver, you may want to consider an auto insurance policy with Freeway Insurance. Freeway offers car insurance throughout the U.S. and specializes in minimum coverage policies for nonstandard drivers. Coverage with Freeway may be higher than average based on your driving record. Before you purchase coverage with Freeway, find and compare quotes from other companies in your area to ensure you are not paying too much for high-risk coverage.

What You Should Know About Freeway Insurance

Freeway Insurance reviews are limited online. The company doesn’t have third-party ratings with companies like A.M. Best or J.D. Power. However, Freeway Insurance has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the company’s customer rating is 4.2 out of 5 stars. So, Freeway is a legitimate auto insurance company for high-risk drivers.

Freeway Insurance customer complaints typically involve issues with customer service or the claims handling process. Before you purchase an auto insurance policy with Freeway, read the customer reviews to learn more about the company.

Freeway Auto Insurance Company

Freeway Insurance started in California. The company currently provides mandatory auto insurance coverage to high-risk drivers throughout the U.S. With Freeway Insurance, you can purchase the minimum auto insurance required in your state. However, the cost for coverage may be higher than your state’s average price for minimum coverage.

Freeway Insurance does include personal injury protection (PIP) insurance coverage for individuals who need it, and the company offers a few discounts to qualifying policyholders to help lower their insurance rates.

Freeway Insurance takes civic responsibility very seriously, and the company partners with Toys for Tots to provide toys and gifts to economically disadvantaged children in the United States and abroad.

Freeway is a legitimate insurance company, though reviews concerning the company’s products and services vary. If you’re interested in pursuing a policy with Freeway Insurance in Texas or any other state, you may also want to consider other auto insurance companies.

Pros of a Freeway Auto Insurance Policy

If you purchase car insurance coverage with Freeway Insurance, you will enjoy several benefits.

Freeway offers more than just car insurance. If you need additional insurance products, you may be interested in other products Freeway offers. Purchasing two or more insurance products with the company may qualify you for a discount.

Michelle Robbins Licensed Insurance Agent

Freeway Insurance offers auto insurance nationwide. Regardless of where you live, you can get a quote for Freeway car insurance to see if the company’s rates work for your lifestyle and budget.

Freeway Insurance takes its civil duties seriously, and part of the company’s profits go toward helping underprivileged children in the U.S.

Freeway also uses an insurance network to help prospective customers compare auto insurance rates from multiple companies. For example, if you’re looking for high-risk coverage, Freeway may help you compare rates with the company against rates for similar policies with other auto insurance companies.

Cons of a Freeway Auto Insurance Policy

While there are many benefits to purchasing an auto insurance policy with Freeway, there are also some downsides.

Freeway Insurance offers coverage throughout the U.S. but does not have in-person agents in every state. Therefore, if you value working closely with someone, you may want to consider other companies with offices and agents in your area.

The Freeway Insurance website has limited capabilities for online payments and overall policy management. You cannot file a claim on the Freeway website. Instead, you must call and speak with a representative.

Many third-party organizations do not rate Freeway Insurance. With a lack of ratings, it may be difficult to discern whether the company would work well for you regarding policies, claims, and customer service.

Lastly, Freeway Insurance does not write its policies. After you speak with a company agent, other insurance companies underwrite the policy. So, while you may go to Freeway for your initial high-risk coverage, you may be surprised to learn which company you have for your auto insurance.

Freeway Insurance Coverage Options

Freeway Insurance offers the standard types of auto insurance most companies provide, including:

The company’s website says it offers additional coverage options, but these options vary based on where you live.

The add-ons for coverage available with Freeway auto insurance include:

You cannot get Freeway insurance with no license, and you may need to provide proof of residency to enjoy lower rates in certain areas.

When you add coverage to your auto insurance policy, your insurance rates will go up, so ensure you want additional coverage before adding them to keep your rates low.

Other Freeway Insurance Products

Freeway offers additional coverage options outside of auto insurance. Some of the company’s more popular insurance options include:

  • ATV
  • Motorcycle
  • RV
  • Watercraft
  • Snowmobile
  • Homeowners
  • Renters
  • Life
  • Health
  • Identity theft protection
  • Business
  • Commercial auto
  • Roadside assistance

Most insurance policy types listed above include standard coverage options and potential add-ons and discounts, depending on your unique situation and where you live.

Freeway offers multi-policy discounts, so if you’re interested in purchasing car insurance with the company, you may be able to get a discount if you also buy another form of insurance with the company, like homeowners coverage.

Freeway Insurance Availability by State

Freeway Insurance offers its car insurance coverage in most U.S. states. The only states that don’t provide Freeway Insurance are:

  • Alaska
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Iowa
  • Maine
  • Minnesota
  • Montana
  • New Hampshire
  • North Dakota
  • Rhode Island
  • South Dakota
  • West Virginia
  • Wyoming

Some of the states where Freeway operates consider Freeway to be one of the best insurance providers. For example, Freeway Insurance in Arizona — and especially Freeway Insurance in Phoenix — is more popular than most of the big-name insurance providers most people know.

Freeway Insurance in San Jose, California, is similar in popularity, though the company has more competition in the area and throughout the state.

As you can see, additional coverage causes your Freeway auto insurance rates to increase. A full coverage policy with an insurance company like Freeway could cost more than twice as much as a liability-only policy.

While Freeway Insurance claims to offer the lowest possible auto insurance rates, you’ll never know who offers you the coverage you want at rates you can afford until you shop online and compare quotes from multiple companies.

However, Freeway mentions on its website that the company offers potential policyholders various discount opportunities to save money on coverage.

Freeway Insurance Discounts Available

Like many other insurers, Freeway Insurance understands that customers want and need to save money on coverage. So Freeway offers several auto insurance discounts.

Some of the company’s most popular discounts on car insurance include:

  • Anti-theft
  • Good driver
  • Student
  • Multi-car
  • Military
  • Multi-policy
  • Senior
  • Customer loyalty

If you’re interested in getting a quote with Freeway Insurance, you can use the company website or call a representative. Ask if you qualify for any of the company’s discounts to lower your monthly insurance rates potentially.
