[/su_box] This Agricultural Workers (Ag Workers) Mutual Auto Insurance review will provide an overview of the company and information for those seeking auto insurance quotes. Ag Workers Mutual was founded in 1948 by agriculture teacher William C. Young. Mr. Young’s idea was to establish a mutual company for agricultural workers owned by policyholders who vote on company standards and elect board members. Each policyholder’s safe driving record would keep costs down for all company members. Each member would receive a dividend yearly based on the company’s savings.

Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance History

Ag Workers Mutual was founded in Fort Worth, Texas, and then expanded into Oklahoma and Arkansas. Each location has its own website, although customers can go to the site of the main location to access all three websites.

Specific contact information and hours of operation can be found for each office on the individual websites.

Ag Workers is a mutual insurance that started in 1948. From 1954 to 1964, Ag Workers grew rapidly due to investments and the number of policies attained in their coverage area.

They eventually moved into a new building, but finally settled into a permanent commercial residence in 1987. Since 2009, Ag Workers has continued to grow and has spread its services to Arkansas and Oklahoma.

As a mutual insurance company, Ag Workers pays dividends to its policyholders. They’re an insurance company that provides insurance only for those who are involved in agriculture, employed with Ag Workers, or have family employed by Ag Workers.

Agricultural Workers Insurance Online Presence

On the company website, you can make an Ag Workers online payment, print your declaration page, or view your policy. You can also print I.D. cards at your convenience.

This website also connects you to other resources in the community such as banks, credit services as well as associations in the area. These links are cattle ranching resources at your fingertips. You may contact an Ag Workers representative by email, telephone, or mail services.

Agricultural Workers Insurance Commercials

There are a small number of Ag Workers videos on the web. We managed to find two that were close to commercials. Let’s take a look at one of the videos that appear to be a commercial.

The video is indeed informative about the eligibility requirements at Ag Workers. It’s one of the closest materials they have that promotes their company.

Here’s another video that describes an additional liability auto insurance coverage you may want to consider.

There may be a commercial that’s aired on local Texas television, but it doesn’t appear to be available on the web just yet.

Agricultural Workers Insurance Community Involvement

Ag Workers focuses solely on the communities in their coverage area. They are particularly focused on individuals and communities in the agriculture profession and lifestyle.

There’s no question that they get involved in nonprofit organizations in Texas or any other area they’re located in. Ag Workers’ website doesn’t specify specific nonprofit programs, but they do mention some involvement with students pursuing agriculture degrees and surrounding hospitals.

Ag Workers Insurance Review by Employees

We ran into another roadblock when searched for what employees had to say about Ag Workers. Usually, we would look at Glassdoor, a website dedicated to giving visitors and members organization and job information. Ag Workers does have an Indeed profile, which shows the company rated as four stars. Only 10 employee reviews are listed.

Agworkers Insurance Coverage Options

Ag Workers covers the basic minimum insurance required by the state for Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. You have the option of detailing your policy according to the needs of your motor vehicle, home, farm, or ranch. For the sake of the guide, we’ll focus only on auto insurance.

To get an idea of what auto insurance looks like, let’s take a look at the auto insurance rate projections provided by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The NAIC reports on these rates each year, recording the average for auto insurance for each state.

Since Ag Workers only does business in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, we’ll focus on the average of those three states and how they compare to the countrywide average.

Monthly Average Auto Insurance Rates by Coverage Type

StateLiabilityCollisionComprehensive
Arkansas$38$30$18
Countrywide$51$30$13
Oklahoma$42$29$21
Texas$53$36$20

Compare RatesStart Now →

Auto insurance in Arkansas and Oklahoma is much cheaper than the national average and the average in Texas. Now, you may be wondering about the cost of insurance. These rates don’t look like average annual rates or monthly rates but resemble rates from six-month policies. We want to remind you that these average rates are general rates estimated from NAIC’s reports.

What is the best auto insurance setting? You should carry the highest amount of liability coverage you can afford, with 100/300/100 the best for most drivers. You may also need to carry comprehensive, collision, and gap coverage.

Daniel Walker Licensed Auto Insurance Agent

What about full coverage auto insurance? Potential customers and policyholders may have bought a new vehicle and need all three coverages. Full coverage is essentially liability insurance, collision insurance, and comprehensive insurance coverage combined. So the six-month averages you’ll see in the table below are the combined averages of liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage.

Monthly Average Auto Insurance Rates for Full Coverage

StateRates
Arkansas$87
Countrywide$95
Oklahoma$92
Texas$108

Compare RatesStart Now →

Once again, Arkansas and Oklahoma have the lowest rates in the data. Texas’ full coverage rate is higher due to the larger than average urban areas in the state, but the average six-month rate may be lower in urban areas with less dense populations and rural Texas areas.

How does full coverage affect a policyholder’s salary? Saving money is one of the main objectives when shopping for a product or service. Many would like to know how auto insurance can affect their income. We looked into this factor using Zip Recruiter’s annual salary database and factored the six-month averages into the average salary of each state that Ag Workers does business.

Auto Insurance Full Coverage as a Percent of Income (2019)

StateAverage Annual Salary Percent of Income
Arkansas$58,5991.77%
Oklahoma$61,1741.80%
Texas$58,9142.20%
Countrywide$66,4251.71%

Compare RatesStart Now →

How did we find the full coverage as a percent of income? Using the information about full coverage provided by the NAIC, we divided the full coverage value by the annual salary of the state from Zip Recruiter.

So, the math to get Arkansas insurance as a percent of income would look something like this: 1,039 / 58,599. The solution to the equation is 0.0177, which translates to 1.77 percent as a percent of income in Arkansas.

Based on the information provided, Texas takes the position as the highest value for auto insurance, even higher than the national average.

The NAIC report is just one way to find general quotes, but within our company data, the average is much more expensive. Instead of looking at the six-month rates, we factor in how much auto insurance will cost for the whole year.

The averages below are quadrant data averages from companies with the largest market share and average annual rates of each area in the respective states.

Average Annual Auto Insurance Rate as a Percent of Income (2019)

StateAverage Annual SalaryAverage Annual RatePercent of Income
Texas$58,914$3,9286.67%
Arkansas$58,599$4,1127.02%
Oklahoma$61,174$4,1426.77%

Compare RatesStart Now →

To make it more interesting, we’ve included the average annual salaries to determine how average rates affect a consumer’s income in each state. Company projections for auto insurance are more expensive than the NAIC reports. But what’s different here is that the annual rate for Texas is cheaper than Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Also, the average annual rate as a percent of income is the lowest of the three states.

The Ag Workers Mutual website states that even though each state has its own requirements to maintain minimum auto insurance coverage, this amount might not be adequate if the customer is involved in an accident.

Trained customer service professionals are always prepared to counsel the customer on how much coverage is warranted based on individual customer needs. The customer service phone number is the same for all three websites: 1-800-772-7424.

Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Coverages Offered

Ag Workers has served the state of Texas since it began and remains the home of Texas after 70 years of service. This company offers homeowners, ranch, and farm coverage in addition to business and personal auto protection.

With a layered company like Ag Workers, the basic auto insurance coverages will be available to potential customers and policyholders. We mentioned how liability is the basic minimum coverage. Not only is it basic, but it’s also required by law in most areas of the U.S. In Oklahoma, you could pay up to $350 for driving without liability auto insurance.

Liability has two parts to it: bodily injury liability and property damage liability.

If you just leased or financed a new vehicle, you will need full coverage insurance, so you’ll need to get familiar with the difference between collision and comprehensive auto insurance coverage.

Collision coverage pays for property damage to your vehicle regardless of who is at fault. Comprehensive coverage pays for damages to your vehicle that doesn’t involve collisions such as vehicle theft, fire, storms, or any other accidental damage.

Here’s a list of other available coverages:

We’ve linked the list to how the state of Texas details with insurance law of these coverages. Glance through them to see how insurance companies use them and your rights as a consumer.

Ag Workers Auto Insurance Bundling Options

Ag Workers is an effective insurance option for farmers and ranchers. It’s not unusual for agricultural and farm owners to enroll in commercial farm, home, and personal auto insurance policies at the same time.

The company would be willing to bundle your auto insurance with home or commercial farm insurance. Consult with an agent on how to bundle different insurance options into your policy.

Agworkers Insurance Rates Breakdown

Cheap auto insurance rates are usually the target for potential customers who want to find auto insurance online. Unfortunately, companies big and small won’t offer direct quotes to visitors unless they go through the online or in-person quote process. Of course, a potential customer can get an anonymous quote but, it won’t necessarily reflect what they’ll pay for auto insurance.

For this section, we’ll explore general auto insurance rates for the coverage area of Agricultural Workers Mutual. The next sub-section will go into detail on where Ag Workers Mutual auto insurance does business and the general auto insurance rates of each state they’re in.

Agworkers Insurance Discounts Available

Speaking of bundles, policyholders can receive an auto insurance discount on Agricultural car insurance when they bundle insurance policies. It’s a common trend among insurance companies, and likely a trend that Ag Workers follow. Companies want consumer business, so they’ll be willing to give a policyholder a deal for doing business with them.

Student drivers or young drivers can be eligible for a good student discount if they maintain a “B” average and take a driving training course.

In another blog post provided by Ag Workers, they insist drivers follow the hands-free law. It appears Ag Workers will issue discounts for those with a clean driving record. Most auto insurance providers do this anyway.

Other discounts may include a good credit discount, multiple-car discount, and vehicle safety feature discount. Check with the National Highway Traffic Safety Association to see which safety features are legally required on your vehicle.

Ag Workers Insurance Programs

Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance, as the company is most commonly identified, in Arkansas has its section of the company website, which features the company newsletter.

This newsletter features a note from the president, a couple of outstanding policyholders, and company department highlights.

The newsletter also features its members in one way or another. Like most newsletters, it highlights related tips and information. This particular newsletter has tips on safe driving, and some of the top and frequent causes of car accidents. You can also locate an agent in your area.

Oklahoma’s newsletter is the same, except it also features the Academic Excellence Award. This award goes out to students who are pursuing a degree in agriculture.

Applications are received at the Texas location and offer a $500 Ag Workers scholarship award with some pre-qualifications such as that the student must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 grade point average
  • Be a full-time student
  • Attend an accredited college or university as an undergraduate
  • Complete 60 credits as an undergraduate beforehand
  • Major in agriculture, natural sciences, or something related
  • Be an example of campus leadership

Ag Workers also offers an internship program with the company, which was started in 1988 by company President Marcus Hill. The idea was to introduce interns to the insurance and corporate world.

Canceling Your Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Policy

Each insurance provider has a different way of canceling a policy. You’re likely to encounter several questions on why you want to cancel your auto insurance policy. Agents will normally ask if you have an insurance policy after you’ve canceled with them.

Whatever the reason, a policyholder can cancel at any time, but there may be some penalties and fees they’ll encounter.

Also, the law may prevent consumers from canceling immediately. We’ll use this section to talk about the things you can face when canceling an insurance policy.

Ag Workers Insurance Cancellation Fee

Ag Workers don’t go into their cancellation policy, which means an Ag Workers policyholder will have to talk with an agent to cancel your policy, send an email on why they want to cancel, or send a certified letter by mail on why they want to cancel.

There are a few things to consider when canceling auto insurance. Canceling your policy in the middle of an agreed policy may result in a fee. Insurance providers may require a policyholder to pay the agreed policy balance before they can cancel their policy. Before you cancel, consult your insurance provider on what fees you could face for canceling insurance.

Ag Workers Insurance Refund

If you’ve made a deposit or paid your policy in full, you may be eligible for a refund on car insurance. Auto insurance providers normally will issue a refund after you’ve made payments to insurance that you haven’t used.

How to Cancel Ag Workers Auto Insurance

The best way to cancel is to call the Ag Workers insurance phone number or email them on the date on which you want to cancel your insurance. Either way, you will be put in contact with Ag Workers customer service. Be sure to include your policy number, address, and phone number so they can easily find your records.

You can find Ag Workers Insurance contact details at the top of this review.

When to Cancel Ag Workers Auto Insurance

That’s a matter of timing from the policyholder and the insurance provider. Texas law says consumers must have insurance for at least 90 days before they can cancel.

Ag Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Claims

If a customer is involved in an accident, the Ag Workers Mutual website has a tab that lists instructions on reporting an accident and filing a claim.

The process begins when the customer calls the claim center. Texas and Oklahoma share the same claims phone number, and Arkansas has its own.

The Ag Workers Mutual customer service professional who answers the phone will take the customer through the initial steps of the process.

Exchanging information with the other involved parties, and making sure to record driver’s license numbers and insurance information will help the Ag Workers Mutual agent to file a claim more efficiently.

The claimant should file a police report and have the police report number handy when calling Ag Workers Mutual to report the accident. If an insurance adjuster is required to investigate the accident further, the claimant will be contacted within 24 hours.

To file an Agricultural Workers auto insurance claim, you must call the claims department. In the event of an accident, it would be advisable to follow a few important steps before making the call to the claims department to file an auto insurance claim.

Above all else, remain calm and assess injuries to you, your passengers, and the other driver. Call 911 immediately if anyone is injured. While on the phone, the dispatch will probably request officers to the scene as well.

Meanwhile, exchange information with the other party involved. It is also a good idea to write down the license plate of the other party early in the exchange just in case they decide to leave the scene before the police arrive.

On June 2, 2020 I took my 2011 Honda CRV to McLarty Honda of Little Rock to have a broken belt replaced that controlled the power steering. The vehicle had zero issues with overheating prior to entering their shop and the radiator fluid had been checked earlier that day at Moore & Robinson on Markham Street in Little Rock as a courtesy since I was having new tires put on it. I told the service area employee who met me at McLarty I only wanted the belt replaced (and I showed him the broken one) and the complimentary passenger airbag recall tended to since I was there anyway and had received a letter in the mail about the recall saying it was a free replacement. I waited for some time and listened to the employee informing two elderly appearing people of unexpected repairs to their vehicles. This, along with the AAA tow truck driver's warning to me that McLarty would likely try to tell me my entire air conditioning system needed replacing and to let them know I only wanted to replace the broken belt, made me suspicious. The first update I was given was that they recommended replacing the entire air conditioning system. I declined and reiterated I only wanted the belt to be replaced. It was getting late in the day so the employee left to see if they had a loaner vehicle for me. Then after quite awhile he returned and stated that they could not replace the broken belt because they didn't have one (if it was out of stock why didn't they say that before I had spent two hours plus waiting on its repair?) and furthermore he informed me the car was now "dangerous to drive". I asked him how that could be since it had driven there perfectly fine and did not get a satisfactory answer at which point I told him I was ready to leave. They had me sign some piece of paper and charged me nothing for the several hours. On the way home (at the time I lived at 2412 Hickorynut Ct in Little Rock which is only a few miles away from their location) the vehicle began overheating almost immediately. I turned my heater on all the way up and rolled my windows down and made it home. In the past I had had several vehicles that were older and had radiator issues and had had to deal with that kind of thing, although the CRV had never before had any such issues. Due to my suspicions and the fact they had kept my car for over two hours (and had tried to sell me over $1000 of extra repairs that I had been warned about), I decided to record checking the radiator fluid level when I got home. The video (which I still have) shows the radiator being completely empty. I filed a police report with the Little Rock Police Department about what McLarty Honda did, and opened an insurance claim with AgWorkers. Due to my still owing on the car, I had full coverage insurance and my policy stated there was coverage for vandalism and/or mischief. AgWorkers denied my claim the first time (the first adjuster allegedly inspected it while I was away. I had left the vehicle unlocked in the driveway for him, yet I never got a report on the findings nor was there evidence in the car that it had been looked at that I could see). I appealed the denial and [REDACTED NAME] (another adjuster) was assigned to the the claim. On July 14th he told me in an email (which I still have) he would be inspecting the vehicle tomorrow. I emailed him July 18th asking if he ever had and he replied on the 21st that the carrier requested I be present. Due to some personal issues I had no access to my email for about two months and did not see his July 21st email until September 24th when I emailed him to see what the status was. I never received a response and upon my contacting AgWorkers was told the claim was denied again since it was deemed a "mechanical issue" instead of mischief and/or vandalism. I filed complaints with the BBB and Arkansas Attorney General's Office about McLarty Honda and may yet pursue the matter in court. [REDACTED NAME] should have inspected the vehicle on July 15th like he said he would and my claim should have been paid out as the total loss it was under my covered mischief/vandalism coverage.

Horrible experience

I was in a rear end incident that resulted in minor damage to my back bumper. It has now been 45 days and I have no payment. I even took my car to a shop to get an estimate to expedite the process and it hasn't helped. Every time I ask for someone to call me back or respond to an email I never hear from anyone. Today I spoke with a manager who didn't even have the authority to release the $3,000 that it's going to take to pay for my damage. So I'...

So I've been driving around after a no-fault accident with a damaged vehicle for over a month and a half now. surely this isn't the norm for this company and someone will reach out and help me and resolve this issue.

A great insurance company at a great rate.

This company has been great. Every interaction that I've had has been great. They are prompt and courteous. I've had several accidents and they had done everything they could to make it as easy on me as possible.

Good insurance just a bit slow.

Agworkers is good about taking care of claims for the most part but they can be hard to reach in the evenings or on weekends and are not the most timely in sending someone out to do an estimate.

Excellent Company

I've had to make a couple of claims with Ag Workers, and they are very easy to get in touch with, and they get claims filed very quickly. I love my yearly discount, and I have not found less expensive insurance anywhere! Excellent value, great customer service, a winner for sure!

Automotive Insurance

Agworkers Insurance gives us very little hassle about taking care of things when we have had issues. However, they can be hard to get hold of on weekends and it may take them a while to send an inspector.
